did not like, i had trouble following the story line and was not even sure any of the characters human, machine, alien, are a mix of them all.
this pulls from every SF trope & turns into pure entertainment. shades of Heinlein's Man who was too Lazy to Fail. big dose of the Stainless Steel Rat, but leavened with Bill, the Galactic Hero. honestly, it reminds me of the fanfic we did in the 80s in college (anybody ever read Bar Trek??). but I never got quite drunk enough to do it this well (read the denouement if you're not sure what I mean). well done!!
Basically, ridiculous. The characters are one-dimensional caricatures whom you immediately hate, and then they do really stupid things. And then they keep doing completely ridiculous things and you can't figure out why. And they don't stop arguing.
I dig the idea of somewhat humorous sci-fi - there are a bunch of good examples of this ("Bill the Galactic Hero" or "Black Hole Travel Agency" or "The Stainless Steel Rat"), but this is just awful amateur crap, I'd say just completely avoid it.
As an aside, I also must nitpick about the horrible editing job, though it seems pretty typical for Unlimited stuff. Not much spelled wrong, but really poor word choices, like "read" vs. "red" or "so" vs. "sew" kinds of screw ups.
